Understanding the Customers
About Customers
You can't sell lemonade without customers. Each day a certain number of customers will pass by your lemonade stand. The number of customers on any day depends a variety of things including weather, news events, advertising, and your popularity. The general goal is to use these factors to try to maximize the number of people that walk by your lemonade stand. The more customers you can get your product in front of, the more cups you can sell. If a customer really likes your product, they will buy more than one cup. Consult the customer chart to see the maximum number of cups they could potentially purchase.
Everyone is Different
It's important to remember that each customer is unique, they are not just a drone of characters that randomly buy or pass on your product. Customers in this game are divided into four age groups: children, teens, adults, and seniors. Each age group has a base price limit and taste/temperature preference for lemonade. However, within these groups, each individual customer has their own individual price limit, flavor preference, and so on. If a customer walks by your stand and doesn't purchase a cup, it's likely because you didn't meet their criteria for purchasing. Often times they will provide visual feedback. Use that information to tailor your recipe and pricing accordingly.
Changes in Preferences
In the beginning of the game, default preferences for taste, temperature, and price limits are used. As you make upgrades, gain popularity, or handle various news events, customer preferences will likely change. Price limits can go up and customers' tolerances for taste and temperature will shift. If you're ever lost or unsure, try using the Research tool.
How Many Cups
This game isn't a one-customer/one-cup process. Depending on how well they resonate with your lemonade including flavor, temperature, and price, the customer could purchase more than one cup. Depending on the age group of the customer, the max cups they could potentially buy is listed below. The more you can dial in and provide what your customers want, the more you can end up selling. At the end of every business day you will quickly be able to tell based on the total number of customers out and the total number of cups you sold.
Age Groups - Basic Information
As mentioned, customers are divided into four age groups. Here is some additional information about each age group and the customers you will encounter that will help. Some of the information here has been left ambiguous on purpose. The more you play, you will discover more about each type of customer and learn what they're looking for.
Age Group | Taste Preferences (On Average) | Price Limits | Max Cups |
---|---|---|---|
Children | Very Sweet | Lowest | 3 |
Teenages | Sweet | Low | 4 |
Adults | Mildly Sweet | Average | 4 |
Seniors | Tart | High | 6 |
