Recipe Basics
A good product that meets customer needs will sell. At any point in the game you can tweak your recipe and adjust how many lemons, tsp sugar, and ice cubes you'll use for each cup you sell. As you adjust the mixture, you'll see how it affects the product. You can make it sweeter, more sour, colder, or warmer. Make sure you check your recipe often and ensure it's optimized for the day's demand. Your lemonade also has an overall quality. This is controlled by the quantity of ingredients you use. Play around with it and find a good balance. Customers will pay more for a higher quality drink but it will also cost you more per cup to make.
There will be plenty of times as you grow your business, that you will have to modify your recipe. Things that will affect your recipe are the types of customers you receive, the weather, and certain local news events.
Harsh Critics
During your business day, customers will pass by your stand. Often times a customer who decided they don't want to purchase from you will offer a feedback thought bubble. There are several types of feedback you will get:
Too Expensive A customer that leaves this feedback probably can't afford your lemonade. If you receive a lot of these, consider you set your pricing a bit high.
Too Sour This customer thinks your lemonade is too sour and likely wants a sweeter drink.
Too Sweet This customer thinks your lemonade is too sweet and sugary and wants a more tart flavor.
Too Warm Drink is too warm. This customer wants a colder drink so more ice would be required. This can happen when the outside air temperature is very warm.
Too Cold Drink is too cold. This customer wants a drink served a little warmer. This can happen when the outside air temperature is on the cooler side.
Quality Not High Enough If the quality of your lemonade is too low, a customer will not buy it even if they can afford it. Higher quality lemonade contains more of each ingredient (except ice).
Perfect This customer matched exactly with your recipe and purchased the max cups for their respective age group. |
