Tips and Tricks
Here are some general tips and tricks for anyone starting out or struggling to get things going.
- When beginning a new game, the default price and recipe set are a good place to start. Experimenting too much too early will result in lower sales. Take some time and learn what your customers want. Once you start profiting, you'll gradually become more comfortable making more drastic adjustments.
- Easy and normal difficulty games tend to have a lower occurrence of bad weather. This doesn't mean it won't rain but, generally if the chance of rain is below 30%, the storm will likely not hit the area. This is not a guarantee but a guideline.
- Start using the signage early on in the game. There are 5 total signs you can choose from and even the less expensive ones will offer decent help as you're starting out. Well worth the price.
- Don't be afraid to advertise. Every advertisement option can provide a boost to your traffic and potentially increase your sales as long as you understand the cost versus the potential gain.
- Get the Tip Jar. In the beginning of the game, it may seem expensive but when you get to a point that you can afford it reasonably, it will more than pay for itself. If you can perfect your product, the tips will add up.
- Try not to get discouraged by a bad sales day. It happens and will almost always be something you can recover from. We wrote the game and we still make mistakes.
- Don't forget that the weather forecast is not the same as the actual forecast. As you read the forecast, keep in mind that the actual temperature and conditions for the day could change slightly. If it says it will rain, it may not. if it says it won't rain, it might. Use all the information to make an educated decision and go with it. You'll figure it out over time.
